Ukrainians of Armenia and my Own Experience

At the beginning of 1990's a Ukrainian woman ,who had been living in Armenia for several decades and all that time missed her country decided to create The Federation of Ukrainians of Armenia. The name of the Lady was Romania Yavir and from that time on she has been considered as the President of Ukrainans of Armenia.Romania originated a community in Yerevan , which was the first place in HAYASTAN, where Ukrainians could gather , share their feelings and thoughts.Soon Ukrainian communities in Sevan, Ijevan , Gyumri and Vandzor were found as well.

One of the most important achievements of the Federation is "Dnipro Slavutich " which is an Ukrainian newspaper. It publishes once per month and is translated in Armenian and Ukrainian languages. The newspaper summarizes the important Ukrainian news both in Armenia and Ukraine, talks about community achievements during the month and tells the activites that are going to be held next month.

Ukrainians are known as singing nation, so Ukrainian choirs "Dnipro" and "Verbichen'ka" were found in Yerevan and Vanadzor. They exist nowadays as well and every week the reps of the "singing nation" gather and practice their songs."Dnipro" and "Verbichen'ka" participated in lots of festivals all over Armenia and Ukraine and achieved lots of awards.
Later on a choir for Ukrainian teenagers"Dzvinochok" and a dancing group for small children named "Malyatko" have been found. Teens' choir participated in an International Festival "Our motherland Ukraine" in Famous "Artek "Camp for several times and got many rewards.

Guys!!!!I am half -Ukrainian by myself , so I would like to share with you my own experience being part of the Ukrainian Community and the Choir.I am an Ex- Dzvinochok member and no words can express what a blessed time I had singing in the choir and getting more acquainted to The Ukrainian Culture and People. Several times I had a chance to go to Ukraine with choir members and spend a month of a fairy-tale in the best camp named "Artek".
In Armenia we participated in different events organized for the teenagers of communities especially in Tsakhkadzor, Lusakert, Dilijan, e.t.c.
Now my age doesn't let me to sing in the teen's choir anymore buttttttttttt I am still keeping in touch with Ukrainian Youth :) by the help of the Ukrainian Youth Organization ,which was created in 2008. We organize verious fun events in order to hang out together and also with the teens of other communities. Soon I will post some pics from our events :)
